Performance
Vextro is built on two performance primitives: real-time Convex subscriptions for live updates, and static Astro output that minimises client-side JavaScript. Depth budgets prevent runaway storage costs at any scale.
Live data, zero polling
Convex queries are reactive subscriptions. Your frontend never asks "did anything change?" — the database pushes updates the moment a mutation commits.
Reactive queries
Convex queries are live subscriptions. When data changes, every subscribed component receives the update automatically — no polling, no manual invalidation.
No network overhead for subscriptions
Convex manages the WebSocket connection for you. Your Svelte components call typed query functions; the framework handles multiplexing and reconnection.
Optimistic updates
Mutations return immediately on the client while the server confirms the write. The UI stays responsive even under latency.
Reactive admin panels
List views and document editors in the Vextro admin panel are Svelte islands — they update live when another editor or an import changes the underlying document.
Lean output, enforced limits
Vextro's admin UI is generated as static HTML. Interactive components hydrate as Svelte islands only when needed. Depth budgets and byte limits are certified — not advisory.
Astro static output
The admin panel is built as a static Astro site. HTML is rendered at build time; only Svelte islands hydrate in the browser. Minimal JavaScript shipped to the client.
Depth budgets with safety ceilings
Rich text content is serialised within certified depth and byte limits. No single document can exceed the storage budget — the limits are enforced, not aspirational.
Field-level validation before write
Convex validators generated from your field builders run server-side before any mutation commits. Invalid data never reaches the database.
Partition budget: 750 KB per document
Each canonical partition is bounded at 750 KB. The certification suite enforces this across all depth tiers, preventing accidental storage pressure at scale.
Depth budgets with safety ceilings
Vextro serialises rich text blocks within a certified depth budget. Each release is tested at four tiers (D1–D4), measuring authored depth, persisted depth after encoding, and headroom against the runtime ceiling. The budget is 10 levels persisted; the hard threshold is 14; the runtime ceiling is 16. Every certified release maintains a minimum three-level headroom.
This isn't a configuration option — it's a guarantee backed by tests run on every PR and nightly.
